PELLEGRINI, Donato Pellegrini

It is with great sadness that the family of Donato Pellegrini announces his peaceful passing on March 7, 2026, at the age of 92.  Donato was the beloved husband of Angelina Pellegrini, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, dedication and family for 68 years.

He was a proud and devoted father to Maria Laura, Lucia “Lucy” Domenica and Cesidio Edwardo “Eddie”. Cherished Nonno to Fabrizio (Jessica) and Monica (Lucas). Donato is reunited in heaven with his parents, Cesidio Pellegrini and Domenica Tramontozzi, along with his siblings Donata, Carmine (Antonietta) and Lucia (Donato), his brother-in-laws Mario, Vincenzo, Valentino and Cesidio and sister-in-laws Annina and Norina.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Liliana. He will be remembered dearly by his nephews, nieces, family and many friends in Canada and Italy.

Donato was born in San Donato Val di Comino, Frosinone, Italy, and he worked in Italy, Germany, and France before immigrating to Canada aboard the Olympia in 1961, with his wife and first daughter. He proceeded to build a life in Toronto, North York and later Woodbridge, Ontario. Donato’s legacy is one of strength, perseverance, kindness, traditions and unwavering commitment to family.

Donato’s dedication to his heritage was exemplified by his involvement in organizing social club events. He also served as Vice President of the San Donato Val Comino Association. Donato valued education above all and encouraged his children and grandchildren to strive to excel in their studies, pursue their passions and reach for the stars and success.

Donato loved reading, especially history, National Geographic and the Almanac.  He loved story telling of his days in the army, his days in Italy, Germany, and France and his various jobs and experiences to build a life and raise a family in Canada. Donato loved to design, build and repair any household or garden items.  He enjoyed gardening, wine making, playing bocce, and meals with family and friends.

Above all, he loved his espresso and sweet treats like cake and cookies. We extend our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to our caregiver, Paulina and staff at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, with a special thank you to nurse Alex for his kind and gentle care.
