PENNELL, Paul Douglas Pennell

It is with very heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Paul Douglas Pennell.

Loving husband to Shelley Pennell for 30 years, and a devoted and proud father to Ashley Pennell (Mark), Tara Pennell (Chris), and the late Paul Junior. Cherished stepfather to Jessica Holmes (Jesse). Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Helen Pennell. He was a very loving and proud poppy to his grandchildren Abigayle, Roman, Ava, and Isabel. Paul will also be deeply missed by his siblings Debbie (Bob), Howard (Suzanne), Lorie (Neil), Rodney (Kim), and Steven (Ginette), along with all his cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Paul had the kindest heart, larger than life. His greatest love was his family, and he was incredibly proud of his daughters. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Paul was a true Newfie at heart. He loved his home province with passion and pride. Whether playing sports, fishing, singing around the campfire, or watching hockey—especially cheering for the Montreal Canadiens and teasing Leafs fans—Paul lived life to the fullest.

His sense of humor, memorable one-liners, and his larger-than-life presence will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind treasured memories that will bring comfort in the days ahead.

Friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby, Ontario.

A celebration of Paul’s life is being planned, with details to be shared at a later date.
