PENNER, Johan Penner

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Johan Penner, who passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, Johan was a man of unwavering faith and integrity. Baptized upon the confession of his faith in June 1963, he married the love of his life, Aganetha Penner, on September 1 that same year—beginning a 60+ year journey together.

Johan and Aganetha were blessed with six children: Peter (Ann), Henry (Susan), Tina Dyck (David), John (Irina), Nancy Wiebe (Pete), and Francisco (Beth). His love extended to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and whom he delighted with his gentle humor and playfulness.

Though he retired early due to ear surgery in 1980, Johan remained a steady presence—faithful, humble, and always available to his family. His quiet strength and sincere kindness defined his legacy.

Johan was predeceased by his parents, five brothers, one sister, a child in infancy, and extended family members from both his and Aganetha’s families. His memory is lovingly cherished by his wife Aganetha, his entire family, and the many who had the privilege to know him.

Visitation will take place at Reid Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 6th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Graceland Cemetery and a faspa at New Reinland Mennonite Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations toward funeral expenses are appreciated. Johan was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
