BRAUND, Peter Braund

Braund PeterBRAUND, Peter  –   On August 6, 2023, Peter Braund passed away peacefully at his cottage, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.

He spent his last hours in the spectacularly beautiful setting that he loved so dearly.

It was his sacred place. Peter is survived by his wife, Anne (née Smith) Braund; his sister, Tish Christiaens (Surrey, BC); and his aunt, Barb Veyvara; and cousin, Ann Veyvara.

He will be dearly missed by his three children, Catherine, Jennifer and Kevin; his children-in-law, Max, Rob, and Alicia; and, of course, his grandchildren, Shanice, Orion, Elysse, René, Zazie, Bruce and Isabella.

Peter was born in Peterborough and moved with his family to BC when he was a teenager. He attended UBC and was very active in student affairs – as President of the AMS, and then as the Chairman for the “SUB” (Student Union Building) during the early phase of its construction.

Peter graduated in 1969 from the University of British Columbia with an L.L.B. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1971. He joined the firm of Borden and Elliot (now Borden, Ladner, Gervais) and had a distinguished 41-year career.

Peter treasured his family and was ever a supportive, loving father.

For Peter, family has always been the most important thing in life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to either the Haliburton School of Art and Design (Fleming College) or to the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto (or your local food bank).

A Celebration of Life will be held in September.
