It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Dalglish in Grafton, Ontario, in his ninetieth year.

 

Peter was the loving husband of Camilla (nee Weston) for 59 years; and beloved father and best friend of Kim, Geordie (Swith) and Genevieve (predeceased).

 

Known as ‘Pete’ to his seven grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Alexandra and Benjamin Abell, Louisa, Marigold and George Dalglish.

 

He taught them to canoe, paint and love nature at his beloved cottage on Smoke Lake in Algonquin Park and at Strawberry Hill Farm near Grafton, Ontario.

 

In his younger years, Peter planted thousands of trees on his farm. He loved watching them grow.

 

Peter attended Upper Canada College where he made life long friendships and The Ontario College of Art, a recipient of the French Governor’s Award for fine art. Peter owned Ridpath’s Fine Furniture for forty years and The Grafton Village Inn for twenty-five years.

 

Peter was a practicing Christian Scientist. He was a man of deep faith, whose gentle spirit and warm personality touched all who knew him.

 

A celebration of Peter’s Life will be held at The Grafton Village Inn on Thursday, August 10 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please give, in Peter’s name, to Barnum House Museum, 10568 County Road 2 Grafton, Ontario, K0K 2G0, www.heritagetrust.on.ca/properties/barnum-house.
