After facing the storm and fighting a courageous 2-year battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Brittney (“Bert” to many) passed peacefully on May 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Britt is survived by her loving spouse Marc Roy and children Ana and Nico; her parents Janice and Jeff Peters; shared parents Heather and Michael Leckie; her brothers Justin (Nicole), Anthony (Taylor), Alex (Peyton); and shared siblings Jennifer (Graham) and Ryan (Krista).
She will be dearly missed by her niece Nora, nephews Logan and Jensen, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
A senior nurse at North Bay Regional Health Centre’s Critical Care Unit, Brittney was known for her advocacy, compassion, and dedication to both patients and colleagues. She lived each role in her life—daughter, sister, athlete, nurse, and partner—with relentless love and enthusiasm.
A special thank you to her three brothers who underwent donor testing, with deep gratitude to Justin for his life-giving stem cell donation. Heartfelt thanks go to Marc, cousin Jennifer, and Brittney’s mother Janice, who stood unwaveringly by her side throughout.
The family expresses sincere gratitude to the HSN Cancer Clinic and the Transplant Unit at Ottawa General Hospital.
You are invited to celebrate Brittney’s life on Saturday, May 31 at Gateway City Brewery in North Bay, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A formal tribute will take place from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a celebration.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Brittney’s honour can be made to KidSport Ontario or the Stem Cell Patient Fund at the Ottawa Hospital.
Brittney’s care has been entrusted to McGuinty Funeral Home. Please consider becoming a donor and giving blood.
If you ever want to chat with Britt, just look at the moon.
