PETERS, Jerry Peters
December 25, 2025
With profound sadness, the family announces the passing of their beloved patriarch,
Gerald Robert Peters early Christmas morning, Thursday, December 25, 2025 with family by his side.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret Peters and later partner of the late Emily Mills.
Much loved Dad of Rich Peters (Cheryl) and Patti Hutton (late Jeff).
Cherished and proud Grandpa of Erin (Nick), Megan (Mike), Dane (Phoebe) and Laura (Brendan) and Great-Grandpa of Findley, Mackenzie, Ashton, Drew, Jackson and Leo.
Dear brother of Carol McLaughlin and Barb Bailey.
Son of the late Charles and Minnie Peters, Dad was also predeceased by his stepmother, Pauline Peters as well as his brothers: Walter, Donald, Gordon and Ronald and his sisters: Margaret Seeley, Joyce Henry and Shirley Ellis. Also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Dad was born and spent his younger years in Cardinal, Ontario where he was involved in hockey and baseball playing on championship teams. He worked as a labourer at Canada Starch Company in Cardinal before moving to Lindsay, Ontario in 1961 when he began to work at General Motors until his retirement in 1997.
He wanted for little as his family was his main priority but his one big wish was for his beloved New York Rangers to win the Stanley Cup for him, and after 50 years of waiting, he was rewarded in 1994.
He was a no nonsense man who stood by his principles and instilled those traits in his family. He was adored by his 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and his company was always loved.
If he had a passion, besides his Rangers, it was fishing. His favorite fishing program was the Red Fisher Show which later on became the Red Green Show. Coincidentally, Red Green became a hit in the household as well!
Dad was also a talented handyman and his toolbox was never far away to aid family and friends. He will be welcomed by all those who have gone before him.
Dad’s final care has been entrusted to the
Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior.
His remains will be inurned with Mom at the Riverside Cemetery Columbarium in Lindsay in the Spring of 2026.
For those wishing to honour Dad in a special way, please consider a donation to Arnprior Humane Society.
