PETRESCUE, Marianne Petrescue
August 7, 1929 - January 23, 2026
She is lovingly remembered by all who knew her, and next to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, her family was the most important thing to her. She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 23, 2026, in Kelowna, BC.
She was born to John and Rose Tkachuk in Saskatchewan on August 7th, 1929. She had one younger sister, Anne, and two older brothers, George and John.
She was married to Con Petrescue October 2, 1949, and they had four children: Bernie, Dave, Karen, and Michelle.
Marianne was predeceased by her son Dave (Brenda) in 2006, her husband Con, also in 2006, and her daughter Karen Braun (Douglas) in 2018. She was also predeceased by her sister Anne Boychuk (Harold) and her two older brothers, John (Ethel) and George (Alice) Tkachuk.
She is survived by her youngest daughter Michelle Derksen (Murray), and her oldest son Bernie (Marcia), and Bernie’s children’s mother Winnifred McQueeny (John). Marianne is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.
Marianne lived a life devoted to God, to prayer, and to love. Her life was defined by sacrificial hard work, hospitality, kindness, inner strength, and gratitude. She was fondly known for her tight, rib-breaking hugs. She was a prayer warrior, praying daily for her entire family, name by name. She loved sharing her faith with others, frequently giving Bibles to people and praying for them.
She enjoyed word puzzles, playing games, reading, and was always thinking of others before herself, not wanting to impose on them. She truly had a servant’s heart after God’s own heart.
Not only that, but she will be greatly missed! She has left a legacy that will challenge each of us to develop an intimate relationship with Jesus, whose love is beyond anything we will ever fully understand. Her greatest wish was and is that her entire family would join her in heaven one day.
With deep love and gratitude, we remember Marianne; a remarkable, Godly woman whose kindness, wisdom, and warmth touched every life she encountered, and whose faith was unwavering.
Though she has left this world, her spirit and beautiful smile, plus her example, will live on in our hearts and the stories we share. She will be lovingly remembered always.
