It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Petrolia, who passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, at the age of 90. Louis retired in 1990 after 35 years of dedicated service with the Ontario Northland Transport Commission. A talented musician, Louis played piano and keyboard with numerous bands and jazz groups in North Bay ad spent many years teaching accordion to aspiring musicians. His love for music was matched by his passion for woodworking – he built cabinets and furniture of various styles and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, even establishing his own business doing what he loved. Louis was also involved in the local arts community, serving as a director with the North Bay Entertainers and Musicians Hall of Recognition from 2005 to 2006. He will be dearly missed by his children, Carl Petrolia, wife Alexandra Gakovic-Petrolia and Carianne Morabito (née Petrolia), (husband Anthony Morabito); grandchildren Braeden Morabito, wife Krista Morabito (née McLaren), Briana Morabito, Bryce Morabito wife Emily Bond, Kyle Petrolia wife, Kaitlyn Petrolia, Kayla Jacobson (née Petrolia) husband Jeff Jacobson and great grandchildren Bennett, Nolan and Summer Morabito, Ellie Petrolia, and Emma and Evan Jacobson. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be interred with those of his beloved Lucille. There will be no visitation or service. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
