It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anne Therese Pettem (née Doucher), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on Thursday July 31 at the age of 69.
Born on October 29, 1955, in Sarnia, Ontario, Anne was the cherished daughter of the late William and Margaret Doucher. Anne’s warmth, loyalty, and love were the foundation of a life devoted to family and community. She leaves behind her loving husband and partner of 27 years, Dan Pettem, with whom she built a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
She was the proud and devoted mother to Matthew (Karla) Doucher, Mary-Anne (Scott) Panek, Michael (Ashlee) Doucher and step-son Adam Pettem. Loving Grandma to Thomas, Jack, Brady, Sean, Connor, Katherine, Peyton, Colton, Michael, William, Malaya, and Brayden. Being a grandmother to her twelve adored grandchildren was one of Anne’s greatest joys.
She is survived by her brother Thomas (Carol-Ann) Doucher, and was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Michael & Catherine Doucher and infant sister Mary. She is also survived by brother-in-law David and sisters-in-law Wendy and Susan. Anne held her siblings close to her heart, cherishing their bond and the family traditions they shared.
She is a beloved Auntie Anne to Jim (Sue), Tim and Chris (Dawn), Joseph, Helen (Kenny), Alison (Ricky) and Claire (John). Anne also leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephew, as well as a large and loving extended family, all of whom were touched by her warmth, laughter, and deep care.
A passionate Blue Jays fan, Anne rarely missed a game and proudly wore her team colors. She found peace and happiness at the family trailer, where countless summer days were filled with love, laughter, and cherished time with her grandchildren. She built cherished friendships at Campers Cove, which she and her husband deeply valued.
Anne will be remembered for her generous heart, infectious smile, and unshakable love for her family. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering support shaped the lives of everyone who knew her. She was the heart of her family and the keeper of countless treasured memories.
Arrangements entrusted to Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Ave. E, Essex (519-776-7233). A private visitation for immediate family will be held, followed by cremation, as per Anne’s wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
