PHAN, Uyen Duy Phan
February 20, 2026
She lovingly known as Má/Cô/Chị Hằng, passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born on March 7th, 1933, in Ninh Giang, Hải Dương, Việt Nam, and lived a long, beautiful life filled with love, grace, and joy.
A gifted tailor, Uyển custom-made everything from finely tailored suits to traditional áo dài and cheongsam. She was also highly skilled in needlepoint and knitting, crafting unique and cherished keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly, always striving to build a better future for her family.
She found great joy in ballroom dancing and was affectionately known as the “Dancing Queen” at the Kennedy Lodge Long-Term Care Home. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and ability to connect with people of all ages made her unforgettable.
Uyển is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Đoàn Văn Nhi; her children Đoàn Quý Nhi and Monica Pelkonen (Phương Nhi); and her sisters Phan Tú Anh, Phan Tú Hoa, and Phan Tú Cúc. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren — Katelyn McCurry, Kristyn Doan, Kayman Pelkonen, Kira Pelkonen, Kayden Doan and Kaylee Doan — along with her extended family.
To honor Uyển’s joyful spirit, the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Rather than mourning her departure, the family invites loved ones to join in remembering her warmth, her laughter, her merry spirit, and the way she danced through life with a radiant smile.
Her legacy lives on in the beauty she created, the love she shared, the strength she embodied, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
