It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brinley Gething Phelps on July 27th, 2025 at the age of 94 at the Cornwall Community Hospital. Survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Rose (nee Simon), married July 1, 1961. They lived a wonderful life together of travel, companionship and undying love.

Predeceased by his father Alfred J Phelps and mother Hilda (nee Mitchell). Brin had 4 brothers; Pre-deceased by Ernest J (2009 at 85, wife Pat 2003 at 96) and Jim (Richard James, 2017 at 89, wife Pamela in the UK). Survived by younger brother Ray (Raymond G) and wife Sylvia currently living in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Survived by sister-in-law Margaret Sorley (Jack), brother-in-law George Simon (Lula deceased). Predeceased by brothers-in-law Frank Simon (Dora), Louis Simon (Judy), and Steve Simon (Matilda deceased). Brin will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews: Simon, Matthew, Susan, Cindy, Wendy, Susan, Jackie, Bonny, Steve, Pam, Tim and many grand-nieces and nephews.

Born January 6, 1931 in Newport Monmouthshire, Wales, he emigrated to Canada in 1958 at age 27, leaving Southampton for Montreal on the Saxonia-Cunard line. He worked in Kingston, ON and Lachine, QUE as a teacher and Principal with the PSBGM (Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal) before retiring in Cornwall.

Brin lived a life of quiet strength and unwavering kindness, dedicating much of his life serving his communities. He was a long-standing member of the Trinity Anglican Church, a beloved member of the congregation, and held a special place in his heart for Center 105 Drop-in Day Program. Brin was generous in giving to many charities, both local and abroad. He was a member and past president of the Welsh Society, member of Probus in Cornwall, an avid curler, and accomplished woodworker.

We would like to thank many neighbors and good friends for their support. Cremation has already taken place. A funeral or memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Anglican Church (Cornwall) or Center 105 Drop-in Day Program (Cornwall).
