PHILLIPS, Victor Phillips

It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Victor on Friday November 7, 2025, at The Village of Taunton Mills, at the age of 84. Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Victor grew up in a mining family –his father working underground and his mother cared for the home. Those early years sparked a lifelong curiosity that would
shape a remarkable career.

A natural storyteller with an instinct for truth, Victor became a crime reporter, and news anchor, working with both CTV News, and Global News. His career also expanded into public service, where he held roles, he cherished including Communications Director and Tribunal Chair. He even found time to publish two novels, adding “author” to his long list of accomplishments.

Victor enjoyed golfing, poker, reading and the comfort of good company. He was delighted in entertaining children with magic at Sick Kids Hospital and participating in Shriners parades, and surprising friends and strangers alike with his quick wit. He loved making people laugh, often telling outrageous (and mostly true)
stories, always with a twist that left listeners smiling. Evening spent with friends and former radio colleagues, sharing laughs, and memories were among his greatest joys.

He was endlessly proud of his family, his beloved partner of 37 years, Irene Kiellerman, his sons Pat and Greg, and his four grandchildren.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE, (1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787).
