PINKERTON, Ronald William Pinkerton

Passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville surrounded by family. Ron was born in Toronto on July 18, 1932. He was a loving husband to the late Barbara (2021) for 64 years. A loving father of David (Michelle), Alan, Bruce (Sarah), John (Lori). Proud grandfather of Tashina, Tyler, Liam, Marlie, Thomas, Matthew, and Megan as well as many great grandchildren.

Ron joined Prudential in 1951 as a Calculator in the Actuarial Division, where he met the love of his life Barbara. He advanced to increasing levels of technical and administrative responsibility, and was the heart of both the AOS installation in the early 1970’s and the Pallm Vector installation in the mid 1980’s. After 40 years of distinguished service, Ron retired in June 1991 as Manager of the Insurance Research Division to a life split between their Huntsville home and Florida condo.

Ron was a loving, gentle and kind man to all he met. Both Ron and Barb made friends everywhere life took them. Upon his retirement, they travelled the world making beautiful memories together and experiencing all the world has to offer. He also loved to watch and play golf, took pride in his gardens, and enjoyed watching the birds at his feeder.

Ron loved spending time with family, getting dragged away from his golf to attend dance recitals with Barb, eating his favourite chocolate eclairs and never saying no to enjoying a gin and tonic or a glass of wine amongst family and friends. Dearly missed by his family, now reunited with Barb, he surely is saying as those who loved him know, everything is “grand”.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, for their incredible care and thoughtfulness in his final days.

A celebration of life has been tentatively planned for April 7, 2026, which would have been Ron & Barb’s 70th wedding anniversary.
