PIO, Carol Ann Pio
December 25, 1950 - December 31, 2025SheΒ was born in Montreal on Christmas Day 1950, an only child to Dorothy (b.1929)
Carol Ann was a really loving, fun, devoted and overall awesome mom to Solomon Jr (b.1971) and Jason (b.1975); and grandmother to Maya (b.2004); and mother-in-law to Cedar (b.1970). She was and always will be truly beloved by not only her family, but her many friends both old and new, all of whom were dear to her.
Carol Ann graduated in 1967 from Verdun Catholic High School in Verdun, Montreal, PQ and worked in office administration upon graduation and throughout her early adulthood in Montreal and Toronto, where she relocated in 1980 with her first husband Solomon Sr (b.1946) and two children, Solomon Jr and Jason. Carol Ann continued to work in office administration in Toronto through the 80s and 90s, including at the Catholic Health Association of Ontario.
In later adulthood, Carol Ann was founder, owner and operator of Diabetic De-Lites, an innovative small business retail store she created to serve the diabetic community in Toronto and Scarborough, a community Carol Ann also served through her volunteer work with the Canadian Diabetes Association. Carol Ann was predeceased by her second husband John (1944-2004), who was a great partner to her in life and business.
Carol Ann was also a grief counselor with Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities and took tremendous pride in supporting community members dealing with their darkest days by being her truest and most empathetic self. Mom had a way of bringing light and love, humour and joy to lifeβs most difficult times – her Catholic faith and belief in God, angels, and the power of prayer, helped get her through her own incredibly difficult battle with cancer in the last part of her life.
Carol Ann had a fantastic sense of humour and a quick wit, she loved music and was a great singer, she loved sports and exercise and healthy living, she loved her pool, she loved hanging out and going for lunch with her friends, she loved shopping, she loved road trips and vacations – she loved life!
A celebration of Carol Annβs life will be held in springtime 2026 – details will be shared directly with family and friends.
