PITRE, Dennis Pitre

Passed away peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the age of 77. Born in Sudbury, Dennis spent 65 years in Capreol before later calling Bracebridge and Sault Ste. Marie home. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved touched countless lives over the years.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife Debbie (née Merchant), with whom he shared 54 years of marriage, his daughter Glenda (Dave), his son Curtis (Laura), and his cherished grandchildren Jordan, Vanessa, and Jade. He also leaves behind his sister Rita (Dave), extended family, and many friends who will forever carry his memory with them. He is predeceased by his parents, Orval and Veronica Pitre, and by his brother Joseph Pitre, all of whom he loved deeply and is now reunited with.

A dedicated family man and a proud machinist, Dennis spent 35 years with CN Rail, where he built lifelong friendships and took great pride in his craft. His work ethic, precision, and commitment were hallmarks of who he was steady, reliable, and always giving his best.

He was an avid cyclist, riding his bike daily and continuing to do so right up until the end of September. He loved baseball, hockey, fishing, and the simple joy of being surrounded by his family. His quiet demeanor, kind heart, and steady presence made him a source of comfort and inspiration to everyone who knew him.

Beyond his career, Dennis devoted himself to a passion that became a defining part of his legacy: health, fitness, and helping others live stronger, healthier lives. His vision and commitment led to the creation of a fitness center in Capreol, giving the community a place to grow healthier and more connected. For Dennis, fitness was never just a hobby, it was a way to uplift others, encourage discipline, and inspire confidence.

Dennis lived a life defined by love, service, and quiet determination. His legacy will live on in the family he adored, the community he strengthened, and the countless people he inspired along the way.

A celebration of life will be announced in the new year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARCH, whose compassionate care brought peace and dignity to Dennis in his final days.
