With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carla Ann Point (nee Cree) a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and friend, who left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Carla passed at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Sunday, May 31st, 2026 at the age of 64 years.

Beloved wife of the late Dean Forrest Joseph Point. Loving mother of Allen Point (Bryanna), Brandon Point (Shylo), Amber Point (Trevor) and of the late Calvin Point- January 6, 2019 (Natalie Point). Cherished grandmother of Brigitte (Chris), Dominic (Tahniah), Devon (Alanna), Brayden (Mel), Isaac, Carson, Jacob, Nolan (Noemi), Jared, Makayla, Aliyah, Dayton, Kaydon, Dakota, Philip, Daniel, Theo, Wyatt and great-grandmother of Axton, Addison, Carter, Hunter, Gianna, the late Taylor Catherine and one expected in August 2026. Treasured sister of Marie Cree Benedict, Hilda Jean Cree, Mike Cree (Aline) and Jason Cree. Dear Daughter-in-law of Phyllis Point. She will be greatly missed by her Travel friends Jackie Cree Arquette, Carolyn Francis, Shawna Cook, Tracey King, Charlene and Tim Sunday, Barbara Smoke Thompson and Akat Ransom, by her many nieces, nephews and cousins and by her beloved loving cat Obie.
She is predeceased by her parents; Francis Cree and Catherine Cree (nee David), Her brothers Kevin Cree, Leslie Cree and Danny Cree, her sister Hattie Bashaw (Kim), her infant brother Allen Cree and by her father-in-law Noah Point.

For over 30 years, Carla dedicated her life to educating and inspiring students through her work with the Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education. Teaching was more than a career to her it was her passion. When she retired, she quickly realized she wasn’t ready to leave the classroom behind. Within six months, she returned to work, driven by her love for teaching and the students whose lives she cherished being a part of.

Family was the center of Carla’s world. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great joy in spoiling them whenever she could. Nothing made her prouder than watching her grandchildren play sports, cheering them on from the sidelines and celebrating every accomplishment. Her love, encouragement, and unwavering support will be remembered forever.

Carla enjoyed life’s many pleasures. She loved traveling, shopping, playing Bingo, and spending time at the casino. Family members often joked that going to the casino was like going to church for her it was one of her favorite places to be and brought her endless enjoyment.
One of her greatest loves was the river. She spent countless days camping by the water, a place where she felt most at peace. The river was where she created treasured memories with family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, meals, and unforgettable moments. Whether relaxing by the shoreline or gathering with loved ones, she was happiest surrounded by family at the river she loved so dearly.

Carla will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, dedication to education, and deep love for her family. She touched countless lives as a teacher, mentor, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Carla’s family will welcome loved ones and friends at 84 Point Road, Akwesasne, Ontario on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from noon. Funeral service will be held at 84 Point Road, Akwesasne, Ontario on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 2 p.m. Followed by cremation.
