It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Poitras at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025 at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband for 59 years of Lorraine Poitras (née Carriere). Loving father of Denise (Alex Roach), Christine (Mike Racine) and Kathleen. Cherished grandfather of 7 grandchildren and of 11 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Noella Gauthier (late Leo), Lorraine Prodnick (Fern Lebrun), Darlene Carriere (Denise Lenahan), Helen Godard (Dave MacCosham), Carol Leclair (Roger) and Raymond Poitras (Kelly). He will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; Arthur and Gertrude Poitras (née Larose) and by his siblings; Roger Poitras (Pauline) and Arthur Poitras (Linda).

Jimmy’s family warmly invites all family and friends to gather for a time of visitation and remembrance at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888) on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church followed by cremation.
