POLAND, Angela Catherine Poland
September 26, 1979 - June 18, 2025Angela Catherine Poland, 45, of Newcastle, Ontario passed away on June 18, 2025 at Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa, Ontario after a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer. She fought the disease with remarkable courage and bravery every step of the way.
Angela was born on September 26, 1979 in Ajax, Ontario and was raised in Whitby, Ontario. She was the daughter of Wayne and Sherlyn Poland. Angela was the mother of two boys, Austin and Evan Eberle, who meant everything to her. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Robert Eberle. Angela was also a very beloved “Auntie” to her ten nieces and nephews.
Angela was one-of-a-kind. She was the most generous, selfless, thoughtful and kindhearted person you could ever know. She was also determined, witty and tough as nails. That combination of strength and unbelievably kind soul made her someone completely unforgettable in the best possible way.
Angela was someone who always brought so much life to a room. She had a great sense of humour and was a really fun person to talk to. That is one of the many reasons she made friends wherever she went. Another reason was because she was fiercely loyal and always there for you when you needed her. She put others before herself constantly.
Angela was an amazing athlete and loved sports. She was ultra competitive. Hockey was by far her favourite sport, but over the years she played seemingly every sport (golf, lacrosse, softball, ringette, tennis and on and on). Even when she was very sick and undergoing chemotherapy, she was still running five kilometers.
Angela was a “foodie”. She went to culinary school and also studied food science, earning diplomas in Culinary Management from Canadore College and Pharmaceutical and Food Science Technology from Durham College. She spent most of her career in various aspects of the food industry. Angela loved going to restaurants and trying different types of food from different cultures. She was an incredible cook. The birthday cakes she would make for her boys as well as her nieces and nephews were legendary and would rival anything seen on the Food Network. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of food and nutrition.
Angela also loved dogs, especially her beloved chocolate lab and “fur baby” Riley.
She was the best mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend and, especially, daughter. No one loved their mother more than Angela. She was her best friend. They called each other ten times a day (literally) and could not go one day without each other.
Loving memories of Angela will continue to be shared by her surviving family: husband, Robert Eberle; son, Austin Eberle; son, Evan Eberle; mother, Sherlyn Poland; father, Wayne Poland; brother, Jeffrey Poland; sister-in-law, Tracey Poland; niece, Grace Poland; niece, Abigail Poland; nephew, Joshua Poland; brother, Cameron Poland; sister-in-law, Lisa Poland; niece, Asha Poland; nephew, Thomas Poland; niece, Bailey Poland; brother, Gregory Poland; sister-in-law, Maureen Poland; nephew, John Paul Poland; niece, Teresa Poland; niece, Bernadette Poland; and nephew, Peter Poland; as well as mother-in-law, Anne Eberle; father-in-law, Robert Eberle; and sister-in-law, Shannon Eberle.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 1 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church (214 King Avenue East, Newcastle, Ontario). This will be followed immediately by her burial at Bond Head Cemetery (northeast corner of Queen Victoria Street and Park Lane in Newcastle).
