PORTELANCE, Léo Portelance
January 17, 1937 - May 31, 2025
The family of Léo Portelance sadly announces that he passed away peacefully at his cherished cabin on Crayfish Lake at the age of 88. Just days before his passing, Léo tended to his garden, visited friends around the lake, and enjoyed fishing — a true reflection of his love for the outdoors.
Léo was the beloved son of Wilfred and Eugénie (née Rainville), both predeceased. He was a dear brother to Georgette Labelle (Léonard predeceased) and Ron (Aggie predeceased) (Sheila), and predeceased by siblings Hector, Conrad, Germain (Laurette), Marcel (Pat, Peggy), Laurette Bélisle (Edgar), and Alcide (Lorraine).
Loving father to Rachel Atkinson (Gary), Richard (Tina predeceased), Julie Torcaso (Enzo), and the late Gilbert and bébé Marie. Proud grandfather of Jason, Renée, Zachary, Mitchell, Noah, Nathan, Jeffrey, and Jessie. Great-grandfather to Victoria and Lia. Léo will be missed by many extended family members and close friends, including Stephen and Jarrod Jagges, and his Union and Crayfish Lake communities.
A 65-year proud member of Ironworkers Local 786, Léo loved country music, puzzles, storytelling, and company. His legendary blueberry wine and his vivid memories — often told by recalling the year, make, and model of his cars — will live on with all who knew him.
As per Léo’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the OPP Wawa detachment, Dr. Victoria Coccimiglio, and Kerry Funeral Home for their professionalism and compassion.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Kerry Funeral Home.
