It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carlyle Whitman Potter on May 26, 2025 at the age of 91 at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. He is pre-deceased by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary Anne Potter. He is survived by his children David Potter (Cindy), Deborah Poole, and Jeffery Potter (Cindy). As well as his 7 grandchildren Jeffrey Potter, Johnathon Potter, Brandon Poole (Ciara), Cameron Poole, William Potter, Jason Potter, and Brady Potter. He was also blessed with 6 great grandchildren Liam and Nora Potter, Beckett and Addison Poole, Maiah Beach and Zaine Potter

Carlyle was born May 19, 1934 in Massachusetts. Although Carl was born in the US he never declared citizenship and always thought of himself as a proud Canadian. Carlyle had a great career with the RCMP achieving a Sargent’s rank and retiring in 1979. After retiring he dabbled in Real Estate and worked for Customs Canada. As a fingerprint expert he was called on assist in United Nations identification missions in Namibia and Cambodia.

Carlyle’s greatest joy was time spent with family and friends. He spent many years playing bridge, bingo, and euchre. He was an active participant in his children’s sporting activities and was often seen coaching their teams. He had a giving personality and he worked tirelessly to help anyone in need.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honour to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Kidney Foundation.
