After a valiant battle with cancer, Chris passed peacefully on May 11, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born in Middlesbrough, England, Chris moved to Brockville, Ontario in 1957, though his heart never left his hometown. A passionate supporter of the Middlesbrough Football Club, he followed the team faithfully from boyhood. Watching matches, travelling to games, or enjoying pints and parmos with fellow fans, his devotion was unwavering.
Chris met the love of his life, Nigar Suleman, in an elevator in Pickering — a chance encounter that sparked a remarkable love story. They married in 1997 in Las Vegas and built a life rich in adventure, travel, sports, concerts and deep companionship. Together, they also built a thriving wealth planning business, combining their talents and shared vision to help their clients plan for their future. Their bond was rare and magical, grounded in joy and resilience through all of life’s turns.
He was the proud father of Shannon (Rob) and Katie, and a loving granddad to Connor. Chris loved coaching soccer, and taking the girls on ski trips, sporting events, and concerts — turning everyday moments into lasting memories, and instilling the value of time being our most precious resource.
An avid collector with a passion for preserving things of meaning, whether it was music, wine, baseball cards, or turning stats into spreadsheets. He was brilliant with numbers, sharp in thought, and always ready with a clever insight or witty retort.
Predeceased by his parents, Joan and Maurice, and his brother, Michael, Chris was the cherished big bro to his beloved sisters—Jennifer (Ernie), Gillian (Joe), Laurie (Richard), and Alison. He was a treasured “Uncle Chris” (UC) to Alison (Sheldon, Ellee, Will), Jo-Anne (Jay, Talia, Will), Matt, Michael, Coey, Eli, Liza, Meg & Jenny. He was beloved by an extended network of family, friends, and clients.
Chris lived his life with passion, unwavering determination, and steadfast optimism. His absence will be deeply felt, and his memory lovingly carried forward.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Bridgepoint Hospital, the Mt. Sinai Sarcoma Team, Alpha-East Physiotherapy, West Durham Family Health, and the Ajax-Pickering Palliative Care team for their care.
