Life Story of Wilhelm, William (Bill) Prohaska
Wilhelm was born in Linz, Austria in 1937 to Ernst and Margaret, the 6th boy in the family. A year later a sister Annie was born and the family was complete.
Bill took his trade in welding and metal fabrication in Austria but continued life-long learning through audio and hands-on methods.
At age 19, Bill left his family in Austria to join his brothers in Kingston, Ontario. Together they helped establish the Austrian International Hall and Prost Bowling Lanes. He also founded Bill’s Steelcraft Limited, where he worked into his eighties, passing on his craft to his children.
Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge and held various leadership roles in local chapters and the Shriners. A nature enthusiast, he enjoyed outdoor adventures and shared them with his son Richard and grandchildren.
Despite health challenges and the profound loss of his son, William remained devoted to his family. His final days were spent in comfort and peace, surrounded by love and care.
