LUCIW, Ralph  –  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Luciw on July 20, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 31, 1937, Ralph moved to Toronto in his late teens.

Although he always had an interest in automobiles, it was in Toronto where his passion for motor racing grew.

Over the years, Ralph raced Porsches and Formula “Vs,” but perhaps he was most proud of his development of the Honda Michelin Racing Series, which took place across Canada.

Over the years, Ralph continued his support of Canadian motor racing through his involvement as a member of the board with the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame and was himself inducted in 2014.

Ralph also served as the public relations officer for several automobile companies in Canada. He was known for his good working relations with the media and colleagues due to his professionalism, honesty and expertise.

Ralph leaves behind his partner and wife, Fran Matsumoto; and his nieces and nephew, Paula, Kathy and Geoff, and their families in British Columbia. He will also be greatly missed by members of the Matsumoto family.

A donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Veterinary College, or a charity of your choice in Ralph’s memory would be greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
