REED , Rita Reed

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful and unexpected passing of our adored mother at the age of 89, on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at the Finnish Resthome.

Rita is now reunited with her beloved husband Joseph. Cherished mother and friend of Patrick (Marney), Marilyn (Fern Delarosbil), and Douglas (Linda Clargo). Rita was the fun-loving Gramma of Katrina (Brandon Milne), Joe, Michael, Melissa (Yannick), Ryan (Jenna), Krista (Scott), and Taylor (Kasondra). She was blessed with 9 beautiful great grandchildren who will miss her hugs and kisses.

Predeceased by her parents Pat and Ida Belsito. Sister of the late Joe (late Loretta), late Mary (late Jerry Goodship), late Ted, Fred (Arlene), late Wayne (Evelyn). Daughter-in-law of the late Cecil and Edna Reed. Sister-in-law of the late Bill Reed, late Isabel King (late Cliff), late Richard (Arla), late Peter (Audrey), Judy Routledge (Robbie), and Carol Naphan (late Paul).

She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom was a vibrant soul, artistic, endlessly crafty, and the kind of person who could light up a room with her warmth. Whether she was creating something beautiful with her hands or sharing laughter at a gathering, she brought creativity and connection to everything she did. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and loved, effortlessly turning strangers into friends. Her presence wasn’t just felt, it was remembered.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at the Ontario Finnish Resthome, both Kotitalo and MKK where she was loved dearly.

Rita’s life will be celebrated in the Chapel at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Center (942 Great Northern Rd) on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:00 am with Reverend Helen Smith officiating. Friends and family are welcome to join for a celebration at Grand Gardens after the service until 3:30 pm.

Memorial donations to The Ontario Finnish Resthome (OFRA) or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
