In Loving Memory of John Regimbald.
It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of John Regimbald, a kind-hearted, fun-loving man whose zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. John passed peacefully, surrounded by love, after a life lived to the fullest.
John was the devoted husband of Ethel Regimbald for an incredible 65 years—a partnership built on laughter, love, and unwavering support. He was the proud and loving father of Larry (Cindy) and Mark (Leslie), and a cherished grandfather to his “angels” Megan (DJ), Tracy (Trevor), Katie (Brandon), and John (Paige). His joy only grew with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Borden, Theo, and Avery, who brought him endless smiles.
John’s love for his family was matched only by his passion for golf. A lifetime member of the Mississippi Golf Club, he could often be found spending countless hours at the driving range, never in a rush, always soaking up the sun and sharing laughs with fellow golfers. His love of the game wasn’t just about the sport—it was about the people, the moments, and the stories shared along the way.
John had a gift for conversation. He could talk to anyone and would often talk to everyone—twice. Whether in a coffee shop, on the green, or at a family gathering, John made friends wherever he went. His upbeat spirit, sharp wit, and contagious laughter created a space where everyone felt welcome.
He was a proud retiree of the Ottawa National Capital Commission (NCC), and a man who believed in hard work, good company, and the simple joys of life.
John is survived by his brother Paul (Cecile), sister Francis, and his very special sister-in-law and caregiver Alice Daly, whose support and care meant the world to him.
John didn’t believe in fuss—he believed in celebrating life while we’re living it. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside ceremony with family will be held in August.
Though he may be gone from our sight, John’s laughter, warmth, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was truly one of a kind—a man who made life brighter just by being in it.
“Keep your head down, follow through, and never forget to enjoy the walk.”
