REID, Carl Alfred Reid
June 16, 1949 - May 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Alfred Reid, who left us on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 75, while in palliative care at Brockville General Hospital.
Carl was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was known for his warm smile, engaging conversations, and love for his community. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Carl especially adored hockey—coaching, cheering, and discussing plays with friends at Tim Hortons. His passion for the game was matched only by the joy he found in family, nature, and storytelling.
He is survived by his sons Wayne (Shirley) and Shawn (Alicia), grandchildren Shauna, Aaron, and Harmon, great-grandchildren Bailey and Addison, and step-grandchildren Jaden and Shane. Carl is also lovingly remembered by his niece Kelly Carmichael and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and lifelong euchre friends Roy, Jackie, Marlene, and Bev.
Predeceased by his wife Bonnie of 53 years, his parents Ervin and Thelma (Kelly) Reid, and brother John Reid, Carl’s memory continues in the stories he shared and the lives he touched.
Carl faced kidney cancer with resilience, embracing life anew after a transplant. He traveled, gardened, and shared meaningful time with loved ones, never taking a single moment for granted. His optimism and love of simple joys defined his legacy.
A visitation and celebration of life will take place at Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, Ontario, on Friday, May 9, 2025, from noon until 2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Prescott Branch 97 (Parking Lot Fund) or the Kidney Foundation of Canada—causes dear to Carl’s heart.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Irvine Memorial.
