RENNIE, Marion Rennie
January 25, 1945 - February 8, 2026
Our beloved Marion “Janice” Rennie (nee Edmonstone) was called home to be with her loving Saviour on February 8th, 2026, at the age of 81, peacefully at the Lambton Meadowview Villa. Beloved wife of Paul Harold Rennie, Sarnia. In March 1957, Janice first met “the preacher’s kid” who was to become her high school sweetheart, her husband and best friend for over 58 years. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, love, and service. Janice cherished her five children, Allison, Eric (wife Jennifer), Pamela, Caroline, Claire (husband Mark White) along with her five grandchildren, Jack, Bryce, Ian Rennie and Hailey Tobin-White, and Vanessa White. Born in Wiarton, Ontario to parents Jack and Helen Edmonstone, Janice spent her early years at their family home in Tobermory ON. Janice was the youngest of the family with older sister, Lois (Vatcher) and brother Dale. In 1961 Janice began her nursing career following graduation from the Owen Sound Hospital School of Nursing that included hospital postings in Mississauga, Burlington and Sarnia. These postings were interspersed with periods of being a stay-at-home Mom. Janice lived a life rooted in faith and the belief that God had a plan for her life and that of her children. Together with Paul they accepted the challenge(s) of their special needs children which fueled her advocacy and involvement on the board of Lambton County Developmental Services and the development of the then, “Children’s Residence” group home. In 2010 Janice retired from Bluewater Health to enjoy the life of a Canadian Snowbird, with winters in Delray Beach, FL. and to be a grandma when at home in Sarnia. Janice lived her life with a loving spirit and caring heart to all she met. Her commitment to prayer, joy of the Lord, and hope of eternal life are hallmarks of her story. A special thanks is given to the Home Respite Team of the Sarnia Alzheimer’s Society and to the 3rd Floor staff of Lambton Meadowview Villa. Cremation has occurred. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Monday, February 16th, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Sarnia Evangelical Missionary Church, 707 Talfourd St. Sarnia, on Tuesday, February 17th 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (a video link to watch the service will follow).
