RICE, Stephanie Lee Rice

Passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at Juravinski Hospital.  Beloved wife of Gregory Rice, Stephanie was born on November 25, 1972, and grew up in Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia. Stephanie is predeceased by her father, Keith Wile, and will be deeply missed by her mother, Rona Exley; sister Rayna, brother Brett; mother-in-law, Shirley Rice (late Ronald Rice); sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Kapil Madan) and Pamela (Adam Peacey); six nieces and one nephew and extended family.  Stephanie attended Dalhousie University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science.  She met her future husband by chance.  On a trip to pick up his sister Pamela in Halifax, Gregory was introduced to Stephanie as one of her friends.  After a long-distance relationship Stephanie made the 1,922 km drive to embark on an adventure that would last her lifetime.  As the Director of Haldimand-Norfolk Social Services and Housing, Stephanie was well-respected in the community for her compassion and commitment to those at risk of homelessness and for her understanding of the importance of the social determinants of health to her community.  She was respected by those whose work she touched and by those she worked with.  Stephanie loved being outdoors and was passionate about baking and reading.  Stephanie will be remembered for her sharp wit, incredible sense of humour and her generosity.  An avid animal lover, she will be missed by her rescue German Sheppard, Logan.  Visitation will be held at the Thompson Mott Funeral Home, 62 Main Street N, Waterford (519-443-5332) on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev.
