RIVAIS , Sydney Yvonne Rivais

Sydney Yvonne Rivais (née Winslade) passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Stedman Hospice in Brantford, Ontario on Thursday, July 31st, 2025 in her 85th year.

Beloved wife to Bill; loved mom to Laurie Benstead (the late Peter) and predeceased by Kelley, Helen, and Tracey; cherished grandmother to Scott and Kelly (Tyler); great grandmother to Scottie Louise; dear sister to Hope Gosse (the late Jesse), Doug Winslade (Tracy), and predeceased by Glen Winslade (the late Sharon).

Sydney was born in Cambridge but called Ayr home until they settled in Paris in 1986. She worked for the Regional Municipality of Waterloo starting as a switchboard operator and retiring as a clerk in 1995. In retirement, she returned to work at an antique store where it is safe to say she spent more than she earned.

In her free time, Sydney enjoyed a night at the horse track or bowling alley, making jewelry, knitting, or creating works of art with embroidery and beadwork. She was known for her quick wit, decisiveness, tenacity, and unwavering love for her dogs.

Cremation has taken place with a family interment at the Ayr Cemetery. Donations to the Brant County SPCA or Stedman Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
