BORDEN, Robert (Bob) Laird – Bob passed away peacefully in his home in Toronto on October 11.
Bob was born in Toronto on February 12, 1931 and was named for his great-uncle.
Predeceased by his wife, Jenny in 2008, his parents, Henry and Jean Borden and his brother-in-law John Crawford, Bob will be sorely missed by his children, Michael (Laurie) , Meg Johnston (Peter) and Julie Bullen (Chris), his grandchildren, Sarah (Ian), Alison, Laura, Trevor, Jeremy, Kaitlyn, Jenn and Kitch, his great-grandchild, Logan; his siblings, Ann Bull (Chuck), Perry, Mary Jean Potter (Frank) and Henry (Susan) as well as his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law, Joanna Wilson, Gill Fleming (Johnny) and Judy Merry (Julian) and by his companion, Lindsay Botsford.Bob grew up in Toronto, graduated from Upper Canada College, attended McGill University and joined McLeod Young Weir in 1954.
The family would like to thank Belmont House and his caregivers from Careables who helped make him comfortable in his final days.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14th.
A celebration of life service will be held in ST. JOHN’S YORK MILLS ANGLICAN CHURCH, 19 Don Ridge Drive, Toronto, on Thursday at 11 o’clock.
If desired, donations can be made to organizations that were important to Bob including St. John’s York Mills, The Seeing Eye Guide Dog School and the SPCA.
