MALCOLM, Roberts Malcolm
MALCOLM, Roberts – Of Etobicoke passed away at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, on June 5, 2023, aged 74.
Greatly missed by his cherished wife of 49 years, Jane; his loving son, Ian (Marta); his grandson, Rémy; and extended family in Canada, the UK and beyond.
Born on October 10, 1948, in Cardiff, Wales, he grew up nearby in Abertridwr and Caerphilly.
A 1967 trip to Canada introduced him to Jane and the prospect of a life overseas.
After attending Keele University and the University of London (graduated 1972), he immigrated to Winnipeg as a Bank of Montreal recruit.
He married Jane in 1974, and with Ian they moved to Toronto in 1980. Malcolm culminated his 37-year BMO career as Director, Learning Solutions at the bank’s Institute for Learning (IFL).
A man of many passions, and even more stories, he easily connected with people. Malcolm and Jane travelled widely, frequently in France’s wine regions, but he was happiest surveying his garden, holding a mug of tea or even a glass of Champagne.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Cathedral Church of St. James (106 King St. E., Toronto).
Memorial donations may support the rare Charitable Research Reserve .
