ROBINSON, Henry Charles ‘Chuck’ Robinson Obituary
ROBINSON, Henry Charles ‘Chuck’ – Chuck passed away peacefully on August 25, 2015 at Parkwood Mennonite Home.
He leaves behind those who loved him deeply and will hold him in their hearts ‘Only Forever,’ his wife, Jessie; his children, Deanna Robinson (Pier Genyk), Bill Robinson (Karen), Barbara Robinson; his grandchildren, Jeffery Robinson (Dilys), Robin Evans (Heidi), Kelly Raymond (Jarrod); his great-grandchildren, Leah, Joshua, Hannah, Samuel and Lily Evans and Riley and Kyla Raymond.
Born in Leask, Saskatchewan on June 18, 1919, Chuck was the youngest child of John Edward Preston Robinson and Annie (Gibson) Robinson, both from Belfast, Ireland. As a teenager he moved to Windsor, Ontario, to finish his education and there he met and married the love of his life, Jessie Isabelle Autterson on December 26, 1942.
Chuck, a pilot with the RCAF, was sent overseas less than a week after his wedding. He spent the next 2 1/2 years attached to the RAF and flying Wellingtons in North Africa, the Middle East, Italy and other war zones. In June 1945 he returned home to Windsor where he and Jessie began their family.
He moved his growing family to Harrow in 1951 where he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Harrow and Waterloo), a Master of the Masonic Temple (Harrow), a member of the School Board (Harrow) and a Scout Leader.
He was a Journeyman Electrician and worked first at Truscon Steel and then with Burroughs Business Machines in Windsor. In 1968 he moved to Kitchener where he continued to work for Burroughs Business Machines until his retirement in 1978.
A deeply religious man, he was a leader and faithful participant in the Church of Christ (Windsor/ Waterloo).
Chuck loved and found great joy in the simple things in life – his family, his home/cottage, his God. He loved music and he played many instruments. He enjoyed dancing, designing, building, renovating his homes, being in nature and partying with his family. He had a great sense of humour and his medium was ‘puns’. He was very proud of his family and all their accomplishments. He was a proud Canadian who embraced his Irish heritage.
In keeping with Chuck’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private family memorial ‘wake’ in the near future.
For those wishing to remember Chuck by making a donation may we suggest the KW Poppy Fund.
