ROMBOUT, Tara Lea Rombout

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Tara Lea (nee Shewburg) Rombout, wish to announce the sudden passing of our much-loved wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece and friend, on Sunday, December 28th, 2025, at her Courtland residence, in her 56th year. Tara was born in Brantford, to her parents Dennis Shewburg, of Brantford and Jill (nee Freeman) Shewburg (predeceased, 2018). Tara was a former dedicated employee of Haldimand-Norfolk REACH (a multi-service agency for children’s and developmental services), working in the finance department and as a respite care worker. Tara will be fondly remembered by her family for her artsy personality and talent when creating handmade crafts, furniture, custom signs and much more. This passion turned into a β€˜side-business’ for Tara; she enjoyed selling her creations at local artisanal trade shows. In her spare time, Tara also enjoyed caring for her gardens and was known for her preparation of delicious food and canning for friends and family. Tara’s ability to find humour in all things and her positive and reassuring voice in times of difficulty will be missed by all who knew her. Above all else, she was a most dedicated wife to her husband Eric Rombout and proud mother to her son Charlie Rombout, of Courtland. Always a caring sister to Chris Shewburg (wife Yumi), of Munich, Germany; Craig Shewburg, of Simcoe; and stepsister to: Scott (Janna) Croucher, of Fort St. James, B.C.; Kelly (Scott Cole), of Tillsonburg; sister-in-law to Janine Allison and her son Xander, of Cambridge. Also survived by her aunt and close friend Carol Phillichuk (late husband John), of Lynden, and by her cousins Dawn, Krista and Todd Philupchuck.
In keeping with Tara’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, between 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. in the Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 40 Queen St., Langton. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Tara’s Life will follow on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in funeral home chapel, by Life Celebrant Jeff Hicks.
