MODESTO, Ronald  –  Passed away peacefully, at his home in Port Rowan, Ontario, on July 13, 2023.

Predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Leona Jean Modesto (nee Hirtle); and grandson, Michael Sheepway.

Survived by his 3 children, Terry, wife Lynn, Debbie Sheepway, husband Steve and Jim, wife Bobbie; along with seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Ron was born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, in 1934, into a family of ten children. He met the “love of his life”, Leona, watching her figure skating, and they married in 1951.

As a young couple, with a new family, Ron’s long career in construction began. His incredible drive, work ethic and lifelong desire to learn were trademarks. As President of Mississauga- based Internorth Contruction, he and his partners led a premier design/build contracting company.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed not only hunting and fishing, but especially the training, field trialing and judging of labrador retrievers, making countless friends across North America.

Ron will be laid to rest alongside Leona in Bayview Cemetery on the shores of Lake Erie in Port Rowan. A special thank you to Eddie Van Hamme, a neighbor and wonderful friend, and to Tina Dedrick, whose care has meant so much to our family.
