FREDRICKSON, Rosanna Marie Fredrickson – Obituary

Fredrickson RosannaFREDRICKSON, Rosanna Marie –   April 29, 1919 – October 9, 2015

It is with sadness that the family of Rosanna Marie Fredrickson (Rheault) announce her peaceful passing, with family by her side, at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on October 9th, 2015.

She leaves to mourn her children, Martin (Karen) Fredrickson of Sitka, Alaska, Eleanor (Frank) Kmetic of Redditt, ON, and Irene Fredrickson of Kenora, ON, 12 grandchildren, many great- and great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Rose was predeceased by her parents Alex and Anna Rheault (Fortier), her husband Martin, and her 15 siblings.

Born on April 29, 1919 in Redditt, ON, Rose was raised with her siblings on a homestead farm on Corn Lake.

It was in Redditt that Rose met and married Martin Frederickson.  Being the first couple married in the Catholic Church, they had to be married in the basement hall as the remainder of the Church had not yet been constructed.  The pair remained in Redditt their whole lives, working hard to raise their three children.  It wasn’t until her most recent years that Rose moved into Benidickson Court where she enjoyed the fellowship of the other residents over a meal or a cup of coffee.

It was said that if you were looking for your child in Redditt, they would be found at Rose’s house.  Rose loved children and they would seem to congregate there.  She would play baseball, hide-and-go-seek, tag, yahtzee, or whatever other games the kids would be interested in.  Sometimes it was just a cookie and a chat.  She was adopted by many as Grandma Rose.

The family would like to thank the staff at Benidickson Court, the staff of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and Doctor Workman for their kind care and attention.

A Graveside service will be held at the Redditt Cemetery on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Father Rudy Manaloto officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to It’s a Dog’s Life.
