ROSS, Susan Elizabeth Ross
April 27, 1942 - April 28, 2025
Peacefully, on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, at age 77. Susan (nee Thompson) of Cannington, treasured mother of Robyn (Steve), Erin (Shawn), and Allison (Patrice). Adored GrannyΒ of Shannon and Brooke, Holly (Jon) and Lilly, Kate and Carly. Beloved sister of Ellen (David) and their family. Susan was the eldest daughter of the late Bert and Betty Thompson. Also known as Suzie or AuntΒ Sue to nieces, nephews, cousins and the Ross family. She would like to acknowledge the constant support of her family, the Cannington Lioness Lions, the Book Club and her dear friends from Courcelette Public School, Mary and Deborah. Sue worked as an employee at Eatonβs of Canada, a teacher at Cannington Public School/McCaskillβs Mills Public School and her favourite job as the Branch Head of Cannington Public Library (mom wanted it made clear that it was not a shhh library). Mom wants us to remember her tomato dip, broccoli-rice casserole, muffins, relish and Dappyβs dessert. The family would like to thank the phenomenal staff and volunteers (angels) at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry who brought her so much comfort in her final week.
In keeping with Susanβs wishes there will be a celebration gathering on Saturday May 24th, 2025. Please drop by anytime between 2pm to 4pm at the Cannington Legion. Sue has requested that her cremated remains be scattered in gentle waters (mom was specific that it could not be the Beaver River in Cannington as she saw too much happening there over the last fifty years). In remembrance of Susan, donations to Cannington Lioness Lions for community activities, the McCaskillβs Mills music program or the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry would be greatly appreciated or pray for the Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays to finally win it big again!Β Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.thornefuneralhome.ca
