ROUTLY, Carol Lorraine Routly

Passed away suddenly, yet peacefully on January 2, 2026, after enjoying a wonderful Christmas season and New Years Day, surrounded by her family.

Carol, in her 87th year, was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years Eric β€œWayne” Routly in 2022. Loving mother of Kristine (Christopher) and Peter (Robyn). Cherished grandmother of Eric, Leah, Rachel and Tess. Dear sister of Mary Titterton (Gary). Carol was a proud mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, aunt and great-aunt and looked forward to all thing’s family.

Born and raised in Oshawa, Carol & Wayne met and were engaged six months after their first date. Carol was the heart of the family as she and Wayne cherished opportunities with his GM career and moving across the country. Carol focused on her family and making every house they lived in a home. Carol & Wayne enjoyed many years of service and friendship with the United Way and in various Rotary clubs and both were awarded the β€˜Paul Harris Fellow’, honour of distinction for their β€˜Service Above Self’ for their involvement in their local clubs and globally. Carol was a true member of every community she lived and a formed many meaningful friendships. She always had time for a conversation and cared deeply for others.

Special thanks to all staff and residents at Bowmanville Creek where Carol lived for the last 2 and a half years. She once again made it her home and was involved in many social activities. She made some wonderful friends there and we would like to especially acknowledge her dear friends Joan and Shirley. They shared many a story and laugh together at their dinner table most evenings. Another mention to her cherished friend, Renee who was always by her side.

Celebration of Life will be announced in the late spring.

Carol & Wayne’s ashes will be laid to rest together with family, at Union Cemetery, at a later date.

Donations in memory of Carol can be made to Bowmanville Hospital Foundation or Rotary International Foundation and are sincerely appreciated by her family.
