RULLI, Geonina, Rulli

With love and heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of Geonina “Genny” Rulli, peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday September 25, 2025 in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Massimino Rulli (2012), she is predeceased by two infant sons Giuseppe (1945) and Tonino (1963), Grand Daughter Angela Rulli (2002) and Daughter Marisa Di Paolo (2023). Geonina was the last of her seven siblings who lived in Italy. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada. Loving mother of Joseph Rulli (Carmela), and dear nonna of Anthony Di Paolo (Kristen), Diana McDonnell (Brendan). Cherished bis nonna of Nolan, Stella, Matthew and Marisa who brought much pride and joy to her life.

Geonina was born in Serramoncesca, Italy in 1926 and married Massimino in 1943. She immigrated to Canada in 1959 with her children Joseph and Marisa. Joining her husband Massimino they settled in Port Colborne where they continued to build ties with their Buccione family members and other friends who were already in Canada. Geonina was a devoted and caring mother who enjoyed preparing home made pizza, pastas, and gnocchi meals for many family gatherings throughout her “younger years”. She loved to crochet and knit and left quite a legacy behind for her family. Their modest home was a “living photo album” where she proudly surrounded herself with a display of family photos. Living in close proximity to St. John Bosco Church, she faithfully frequently attending morning Mass into her late 80’s. The family would like to express thanks to Dr. M. Ali, Nurses and staff at Woodlands of Sunset for their compassionate care of Geonina as she lived her remaining life in her “home away from home”.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Welland Hospital E.R. and Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional care during her recent hospitalization.

We especially thank her nieces Mary Pate (Randy) and Sandra Summerhays (Chris) for the special bond they had with her and for their support.
