RUSSELL, Francis (Frank) Ford Russell – Obituary
RUSSELL, Francis (Frank) Ford – December 21 1914- September 30, 2015 .
A loyal husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, succumbing to a short illness, passed quietly at about 7pm on Thursday, September 30, at St. Joseph’s Health centre in Hamilton.
Son of the late Fred and Alice Russell, cherished husband of the late Norma Russell for 72 years, father of Frank (Jayne), Linda (Steve) and Paul, grandfather of Katherine, Tina and Valerie (Adrian), great grandfather of Allison, Julia and Gabriella.
Frank was pre-deceased by his wife Norma and dearly-loved sisters, Ena, and Winnie; and brothers Paul, Stan, Sid and Fred. Frank was born and raised in Toronto, and had a long career as a lithographer in that city, principally with the two firms, Rolph Clark Stone and Brigdens. He took great pride in his family and for them his love was steadfast.
His other love, and lifetime leisure pursuit, was horseracing. After Norma’s death in 2012, he moved to Hamilton and lived with his son, Frank Jr. Saturday was racing day.
The two Franks would watch the races on television and place bets online. In December 2014, he celebrated his 100th birthday with family & friends and a congratulatory note from Buckingham Palace.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of his life is being planned. There will be a private interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto at a later date
