FARQUHAR, Ruth Louise Farquhar

Peacefully in her 93rd year, on February 8, 2024, following a prolonged illness.

Much loved wife of Ron; mother of Tim (Laurel), Emily (Randy) and Melissa (Mark); and nana to grandchildren, Sidney, Bronwyn and Declan.

She is survived by her brothers Stewart and Graham.

Ruth grew up in Port Credit and inherited a love of music and gardening from her mother and father.

She played piano and organ, but her real musical pleasure was singing. During her University years in U of T’s Household Economics class of ’52, she sang in the All-Varsity chorus.

After marriage, she and Ron moved to Mississauga where she spent most of her 69 years of married life growing roses and apple trees, raising her children and making music. She was a charter member of the Mississauga Choral Society and she represented MCS on the Mississauga Music Council, which she chaired for one session.

Ruth was an active member of Dixie Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir, occasionally playing the organ, and serving as an elder, one of the first females in this role. Ruth’s warm caring manner made her many friends in her community and her church. Funeral arrangements with Gilbert MacIntyre and Son, Guelph, Ontario. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of floral tributes, contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated. The family thanks the Memory Care team at Arbour Trails and the Bayshore Palliative Nurse for their exceptional care of Ruth.
