SHAW, Ruth Irene Shaw, Obituary

SHAW, Ruth Irene  – February 6, 1921 – December 28, 2015

Her family sadly announces Ruth’s passing on December 28, 2015 at Cawthra Gardens, Mississauga.

As a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was remarkable – cheerfully enthusiastic, generous in spirit and lovingly committed to all. Ruth was born to Emanuel and Cora Wagner in Jarvis, Ontario and spent most of her early years in Mimico and New Toronto.

Her December 1942 marriage to Wesley Shaw in Toronto spanned some 60 years before his death in November 2002.

She leaves behind sons Garfield (Angela) of Mississauga, Dennis (Noeleen) of Rathcoole, Ireland, and Larry (Kathie) of Trenton.  Ruth is also fondly remembered as “Oma” by her grandchildren and their partners, Geoff (Jennalee) of Mount Brydges, Ontario, Paul (Valerie), Oakville, Cory (Alisha), Mississauga, Dan (Daniella), Penticton, B.C. and David (Sung), Toronto and step-grandchildren Kristie (Norm) of Joyceville, Ontario and Matt (Leah) of Smiths Falls, Ontario.

She’s also great-grandmother to Oliver and Bevan, and great step-grandmother to Paul, Sophia, Sergio, Isabella, Ethan and Nathan. Surviving her are her sisters Lola and Adeline of Goderich, Ontario. She was predeceased by her sisters Doris and Shirley, and brothers Neil and Noel. She was also an affectionate aunt to many nieces and nephews who now live in Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Service will be held in Mississauga ON, on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 12 p.m. to the start of the service in the Chapel at 1 p.m.

Private interment will follow. The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care provided by the staff of Cawthra Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cawthra Gardens, 590 Lolita Gardens, Mississauga.
