During World War II, she taught in one-room schools in rural New Brunswick. She met her husband Jack (John W.) Blain in Sussex during the war where he had been posted before going overseas.
They were married in 1946 in Toronto, and thereafter Sadie became a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

Sadie loved flowers and flower arranging, and was actively involved in the Garden Club of Toronto. She was a long time member of Rosedale Golf Club. Sadie was predeceased by Jack, her husband of 49 years, in 1995.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Blain (Mary Lou), her son, Ian Blain (Carol), four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A private family funeral has taken place.
Please consider making a donation in Sadie’s memory to MS Canada or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
