SANTING, Albert Lucas Santing

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a loving husband to Rita (nee Duerinck) for 67 years, and father to David (Joanne) Richard (Sharon) and Diane (Gerry). He was a special Opa to Meghan (Dan), Vanessa, Cody, Lukas (Sophie), Riley (Emily), Connor, Chris, Lindsay (Tyler). Predeceased by his grandchildren April (1986) and Tyler (2014). Born in Hoogeveen, Holland, he is predeceased by his parents Jan & Hilligje Santing, his 3 sisters Grietje, Hilda and Lutina and he was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Al was a natural Entrepreneur who enjoyed the challenge of a new endeavor. Starting his tire business in Chatham ON in 1958 he later acquired a Dunlop Dealership and relocated to Windsor in the early 70’s. In 1987 he joined the OK Tire Group and the business is still family owned and operated by his son David.
When he discovered a passion he jumped in with two feet. He loved spending time with his grandkids and their weekly dinners. He was a Snowbird for over 20 years where he made many special friends at Sanlan Ranch where he could work on his other passion, golf.

He immigrated to Canada as a young teenager with his family. Canada provided him opportunities throughout his life which ignited his drive for Community Service. He was involved with Jaycees, he served 2 terms in Municipal Politics so he could create a better community for those in his area. He later was an original member of Windsor-St Clair Rotary Club where he was instrumental in initiating the Rotary TV Auction that still has an impact on our community today.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Families First Funeral Home 3260 Dougall Ave, Windsor ON, N9E 1S6. Visitation is Sunday October 12th 2:00pm-5:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. Tuesday October 14th 10:00am followed by Funeral Service 11:00am at Families First and Procession to Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a Donations to Canadian Mental Health Windsor-Essex Division would be appreciated by the Family.
