SARGALIS, Lionel Sargalis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lionel Sargalis, a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. Lionel’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and good fortune. He was a lucky man in so many ways.

Born into a large Lithuanian family, Lionel carried those early lessons of warmth and connection throughout his life. He cherished friendships that began in his school days and lasted a lifetime – a testament to his loyalty and generous spirit.

Lionel worked as a linesman with Ontario Hydro for 35 years, a career in which he took great pride in. His work ethic, dedication and camaraderie with his crew defined much of his life. After a long and fulfilling career, Lionel enjoyed an equally long and well-deserved retirement, embracing every moment with gratitude – and getting out fishing as often as he could.

A proud Jaycee, Shriner and member of the Moneta Recreation Club, Lionel believed deeply in service and community, always finding ways to give back and lend a hand.

Above all else, Lionel was a family man. He was married to the love of his life, Isabelle (Zabby) for 60 wonderful years. Together they built a home filled with love and kindness. He was endlessly proud of his two sons, Scott and Barry, whose accomplishments and character brought him immense pride. Lionel was never happier than when the boys came over to enjoy happy hour and a meal.

Lionel is survived by his wife Isabelle, sons Scott, Barry (Lisa), his beloved siblings Rita and Leonard, and many cherished brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A life well lived, and a man well loved – Lionel’s legacy will endure in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Respecting his wishes, the family will celebrate Lionel’s life privately. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
