SARGENT, Reginald John Sargent

It is with deep sadness and immense love that we announce the passing of Reginald Sargent, who left us peacefully, surrounded by family, in the late hours of Thursday, June 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Christmas Day, 1942, Reg was a gift to all who knew him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Reg lived a life full of curiosity, compassion, and quiet strength.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janece Mary Sargent. Theirs was a love story marked by unwavering devotion, world travels, winters spent in their RV in Arizona, and an unbreakable bond. In his final days, Reg fought hard to be by her side, spending two treasured weeks together in long-term care before his passing.

Reg began his career as an engineer in the mailing industry, pioneering new machinery. A true tech enthusiast, he always embraced the latest innovations—from early versions of Alexa and Roomba to smartwatches and high-end audio. His business acumen and dedication were unmatched. Even from his hospital bed, he proudly contributed to a proposal that would become part of a multi-million-dollar project.

He was instrumental in introducing Kern products to Canada, including to Canada Post and the Canadian government. Reg’s mastery of technical systems earned him a reputation as a top-tier engineer and problem solver.

In his seventies, Reg was still full of life—riding his motorcycle and volunteering as “pool boy” at KOA in Milton. He brought joy to every role he played.

Predeceased by his brother Roger Sargent, Reg leaves behind a devoted family: his children Kim Sargent-Tonge (Glenn), Caroline Egan (Tom), David Sargent, and Jane Elliot (by extension); grandchildren Kevin (Anna), Jonathan (Morgan), Darren, Emma, Pamela-Anne, Erin, and Jackson; and great-grandchildren Katrina, Abigail, Liam, and Aubrey.

Reg never missed a moment—every birthday, graduation, or milestone was met with love and celebration. His legacy of gratitude, warmth, and wisdom will be cherished always.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hespeler Branch 272, 26 Schofield St., Cambridge, on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 1–4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Luke’s Place long-term care home in Cambridge.

Please raise a glass of JP Wiser’s—his favourite—in honour of a remarkable man and a life well lived.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Corbett Funeral Home.
