SAY, Michael J Say
August 5, 1934 - September 9, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Say, who left us peacefully on September 9, 2025, at the age of 91 with wife Cheryl at his side.
Mike leaves behind a loving family, including his children Mitch (Loni), Jane (John) Cocurullo, Jonathan (Shirley Glover), Nick (Adrienne) from his first marriage to Irene and grandchildren, Jason (Meghan) Cocurullo, Amanda, Madden, Phoebe, Ben (Amy), Andrew, Owen (Vanessa), Danielle (Dan) Graham, Avery, Kiana and great-grandchildren Ava and Eli Cocurullo.
Mike was born August 5, 1934 in Birmingham, England and as a young man, served 2 years in the Royal Air Force and his county tennis team, on which he was a key contributor and qualified for regional playdowns at Wimbledon, something he was very proud of. He was passionate about tennis and played at a high level well into his eighties. He grew up with a love for sport that he carried throughout his life. A love that manifested into unwavering support for his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mike and Irene emigrated to Canada in 1956. They settled in London, Ontario seeking new opportunities and eventually raising a family. Through hard work, perseverance, and his natural warmth with people, he worked his way to part-ownership in a thriving auto sales and leasing business, where he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Mike was known for his open, welcoming spirit. He had the rare gift of making everyone feel at ease, whether on the tennis court, at work, or in his home. His friends and family will remember his laughter, kindness, and the way he could turn strangers into friends with ease. He was a man of faith, actively involved in St. Jude’s Anglican Church, where he was involved in addressing food insecurity and a member of the evangelism and property  committees.
In 1996, Mike was blessed to remarry, sharing nearly three joyful decades with his beloved wife, Cheryl, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they built a life filled with love, a strong faith in Christ and cherished memories.
Mike’s legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives were brightened by his presence. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the way he lived—with generosity, curiosity, and an unwavering love of life.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 2:00 PM  on September 30, 2025 at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, 160 William St. Oakville, Ontario L6J 1C5, where friends and family will gather to honour and remember him.
