SCHENKEL, Kenneth John Schenkel

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

With much love and sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved grandpa, father, and husband, Kenneth John Schenkel on February 9, 2026, in his 84th year.

Ken lived a rich and fulfilling life and always considered himself a lucky man. His greatest joy was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Ann; his children Susan and Marcello Napol, Dan and Tanja Schenkel, and Rob Schenkel; his grandchildren Jack, Olivia, Sam, Meika, Nathan, and Tessa; his siblings Jim and Net Schenkel, Barb Kendlbacher, Bill and Mary Jane Schenkel, Kathy and Joe Benninger, and Tony and Lenie Vandeloo. Pre- deceased by siblings Don Schenkel, Helen Grant, Bob Schenkel, Al Kendlbacher, and Paul Duynisveld.  Uncle Ken will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Ken’s kindness and respect for others were evident in both his work and play. Ken enjoyed a career as a respected elementary school principal with the London District Catholic School Board. He cherished his friends – whether on the course at Greenhills Golf Club, playing cards or shuffleboard, or cheering at a Knights’ games. We know you all have a good story.

Many “awesome” people helped us on our journey. Thank you to our special friends and to Dr. Borrie and his research team at Parkwood Hospital, McCormick Dementia services, Diversified Dynamic Care, Arva, especially Kim and Jimmy and to all the “beautiful” people on the Lilly Lane at Westmount Gardens.

Ken will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the many lives he touched.

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. George Church, 1164 Commissioners Road W., on Saturday, Feb.14 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Heart-Links, McCormick Home Dementia Services, or St. George Parish in memory of Ken.
