SCHOTT, Alice Schott

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at WRHN-Chicopee at the age of 91 years.

Daughter of Clarence and Verda Myers, Alice was a country girl at heart. Being raised on a farm with her four sisters, Doris, Muriel, Audrey, Ruby and brother Donny, she had a love for the soil. This continued into her married life. Glen and Alice enjoyed their country property on Benjamin Road, where Alice had a large garden. Strawberries were her pride and joy.

Their family consisted of three boys, Brian, Barry, and Bruce. They in turn married and had children of their own, Craig, Courtney, Nicole, Jesse, Jordan, Michelle, Darren, Ben, and Alex, who were a joy to their grandparents as they grew.

Alice and Glen enjoyed traveling across Canada, going to Hawaii, China, St. Lucia and Alaska just to name a few. They would spend their winters in Florida, where they made lasting friendships.

Glen’s passing in 2020 left a big hole in Alice’s life. With the onset of Dementia, it was decided the best move would be to retirement living. For the last three years of her life, she called AgeCare Elmira her home. The staff and residents loved and cared for Alice as family. As her health began to deteriorate, the residents would inform the staff of Alice’s needs, and for this the family is deeply grateful. Dementia is a very sad disease. Although Alice had many great-grandchildren, in the end she was unable to place who they were. This did not stop her from loving the visits, especially the youngest two whom she loved to watch run and play. She also loved the visits with Astra, Bruce’s dog. She would laugh when Astra would jump up on her bed uninvited.

The last two months of her life were spent at Freeport hospital. The GR4th floor staff were very supportive of her needs. When it was time to move to the 3rd floor for Palliative care, we found the same attentive care. The end came unexpectedly fast and peaceful. We are glad her last journey to meet her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ has come.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Humane Society would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
