SCOTT, John Clinton Scott

A resident of Charing Cross, John Scott passed away doing what he loved on October 4, 2025 at the age of 78.

Born in Guelph, John was the son of the late Thomas and Violet (née Bushmeyer) Scott.

Beloved husband of 14 years to Cathy (née Kieswetter). Reunited with his past love, Gloria Wright (2003).

Loving father to Kim and John (Tracey). Step-dad to Tyler (Sheri) and Eric (Brittany).

“Papa John” to Ella, Jaxon, and Laila. “Gpa” to Daxx, Lincoln, Theodore, Talena, Duson, and Syrus.

Brother to Jim Scott (Marie), Alexander Scott, and his step-sister Brenda Corby.

Uncle to Matthew Scott (Selina).

Predeceased by his step-mother Pat Scott and step-brother Richard Scott.

He will be missed by many friends and extended family.

John enjoyed riding his motorcycle, especially throughout back country roads. He volunteered his time at Harvest Hands in St. Thomas, and made many friends there. In his younger years, he volunteered at Children’s Aid Society in Chatham. He was also involved in Operation Our Kids, as well as Chatham Mental Health Association. John worked at Navistar for over 30 years.

John and Gloria spent their time together fostering children and making them feel like family. He spent the rest of his life with Cathy traveling together to Alberta, the East Coast, and the Blue Ridge Mountains and making many happy memories. John and Cathy enjoyed their time at Manitoulin Island by the lake. Port Lambton became a special place for John especially after a first date with Cathy. They continued to visit frequently together afterwards.

John was known for saying “Good Morning” to everyone, even if it was the afternoon. Everywhere he went, someone knew him, whether it was for his humour or his involvement in the community. John had visited Israel twice during his time here. He loved the Lord for many years and cared for people with all his heart.

Family to receive friends at the funeral home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 11:00 am until the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow with a Private Family Interment to take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date.
